Preventive dentistry is the best way to help avoid problems such as toothaches and to help identify early growth and development issues. Our philosophy for dental care has always been, that keeping teeth healthy is a thousand times better than fixing problems once they’ve occurred.
We love taking care of our youngest patients! As soon as your child has teeth, it’s important to begin building strong dental hygiene habits. We can help by making sure you child is meeting all the growth and development guidelines for their age. We are committed to facilitating proper brushing techniques at every age. That’s why we encourage patients to come in every six months for checkups and cleanings, and why we offer sealants, fluoride treatment, and instruction on proper dental hygiene. We look forward to providing the best dental care for your child for years to come.
Restorative dentistry is a specific branch of dentistry that is focused on restoring the health and function of your smile following tooth damage, tooth decay or tooth loss. Our restorative procedures normally take 30-45 minutes, and you child is awake the entire time. Dr Cotton takes the time to explain the procedure at an age appropriate level for each individual child. This enables your child to have a positive experience. For very young children and children with special needs Dr Cotton works with a Board Certified Anesthesiologist to sedate children who are at a pre-cooperative stage.
We use resin-based composite, which is an esthetic restorative material for filling cavities, sealing the pits and fissures of caries-susceptible teeth and bonding fractured teeth. Resin-based composites allow the dentist to be conservative in tooth preparation while avoiding removal of healthy tooth structure.
